After crossing from the north border, Gorakhpur Junction rail station becomes a traveller's first contact with the real India.

 

Holding the world's longest platform, measuring 1,3 kilometers, this station is one of the most important in the region. Hundreds sleep in the rough, hoping to secure a seat on the morning trains.

While exploring different platforms, one can witness how these reflect India's wide variety of social status. By the last section, its inhabitants seems to have lost purpose and track of time.
